Vacuum resivour

Vacuum resivour
Can someone tell me what that cylinder shaped thing is located under the light in the engine. Is it a vacuum resivour? And under that I have 2 wires sticking up (one red one black) that is coming out of a wiring harness. Neither of them are connected to anything. The red is a female end the black male. Both have round ends on them. I'm still trying to track down a vacuum leak that i suspect is causing my engine to shut off during idle. Thanks

Does the black canister have wires going to it too or not? if not then its a charcoal canister and so long as the 2 lines that go from it to the engine are fine there shouldn't be a vac leak, unless the diaphragm inside it tore.
And do you still have your injector cooler? If not I bet those are the power wires to it.

No, I don't have the injector cooler. But I did notice that this black cylinder thingy (not my charcoal cannister) does have a few wire going to it and at least one vacuum line coming out of it that has been either cut or disconnected about 3 inches from it. I can't tell where that vacuum hose goes. And there looks like there should be another hose going into this cylinder.

Well the wire probably got to the injector cooler then which is no biggie to leave alone.
And that sounds like the vac canister for the AC system. if its not leaking in the engine bay, it could be leaking inside the rats nest of hoses under the dash...
If I remember right it should have 2 lines going to it from the engine (one is manifold vacuum, the other is for the high idle actuator, which can go bad too and cause a vac leak. Oh and if you get the lines crossed you will hear a loud screech when you turn the AC on that isnt the belt.) then there should be one line going though the fire wall.

I only see the one vacuum line that is disconnected. I don't see any other vacuum lines. Where would the manifold vacuum be coming from? Right now my A/C does not blow at all, and I have checked out why yet. Can I just plug the vacuum lines for now, just to see if that will help the engine run better?
