warning lights stay on when car is off???
Im driving my car around and its running great, but when I turn the car off and take the key out the warning lights come on, brake, fuel, door etc. I took out the ignition switch blew it out with compressed air worked for a couple days but now its doing it again. Does anyone know what this might be, and ideas or thoughts? thanks guys

well, check the fuses, spray the ignition with WD40 check everything its warning about, gas, closed doors, lights off, etc... ignitions aren't horribly expensive, i bought an oem one for like 70 bucks, just make sure the keys are the same direction so you can re key the locks to be the same

normally all these lights should go off when you take the key out. Its already killed one battery. its just acting like the key is in the on position. and i have half a tank of gas, they stay on when the door is closed and all interior lights turn off as they are supposed to. at this point i think ill just have to try a new ignition switch. I just wanted to know if there was another problem I havnt thought of yet. thanks for the help though

ah ok, you might want to try rebuilding the ignition or something, i think there moderately easy to take apart, clean and put back together, you might find yourself wondering where a spare spring went after putting it back together though lol, as i have done on many of my airsoft guns

after double checking my "records" it turned about to be roughly double what i said lol, around $130 (with the unused security bolts that snap off), must have been something else I bought, like seat belts or something, anyway I got the ignition off a guy on Ebay, who I think is still selling Z car stuff

I went to a junkyard to look for a new ignition switch and i found it but the problem is that the mounting bracket to the steering column had two of the screws had round heads, completely round, not stripped but just completely round. I've never seen anything like that before, on mine there are two phillips and two flatheads. I've seen anti-theft torqs screws before but this has me baffled. And they were screws not rivets or anything. Anybody have any thoughts, or suggestions, or seen something like this before?

They are security bolts, the bolts would start with a male square bolt, they would screw them in and then the square part would be snapped off, if you want to remove it you have to use the dremel to make it a slotted head, and then just unscrew it.
Or if you can find it, the button located somewhere on the car that activates the explosive bolts to release them, nobody has been able to find it though.

got it fixed, it was the ignition switch, but only the round part on the back of it, found one on a 1980 datsun 310 at a junkyard. amazingly all the electronic connections are the same! even the combo switch was exactly the same, a part that i paid $350 for 6 months ago
