what to do about bumpers?

alright i dont know what i can do about my bumpers. lately i have been runnin arround with out my rear bumper because it was all tweaked out from the previous owner and i couldnt fix it so i took it and the shocks off. it helps with the squatting but i dont know what to do with it and the front.

i would like to drop alot of that weight but i kind of want something there, i was thinkin about something similar to the MSA Type 2 front and rear where it looks as if its basicly a bumper cover with an air dam on it but i dont know what i would do with the the stuff undeneath it where it would attach. i would need something.

i am kind of stumped, any one got any ideas about what i can do with the bumpers?

take the stock bumper... screw off the black case(or painted for the 82 83) and try to put a solid aluminum (or something cheaper) inside there...

then try to bolt it up to the bumper shocks.... on the other hand just get the type 2

I was thinking, the bumpers on are cars are pretty much useless these days. Just about everything else sits higher than the bumper. Even the front and rear bumpers of cars like the Civic and Corolla are up above ours. So the only thing our bumpers are going to help us is, a wall, pole, fence, or another older 80s car.

The newer cars are not that high up.

Even with just the fiberglass bumpers, you're better off in a wreck than a 240Z

Do you think a smart car is better off than a 240Z? It probably is.

probably.
I was thinking of a 280ZX (no bumper supports) vs a 240Z with stock bumpers.
Even the body of the ZX is stronger than a 240Z

A smart car is more solid than many larger cars. They don't have crumple zones. Good so the passengers don't get crushed but they will feel the impact more harshly. Everyone should drive small cars!
