i remember reading somewhere that if you change your instrument cluster to one that was fitted to a car without cruise control you lose the function. the reason i ask is mine only goes to 180kmh and i have noticed some that go to 220

 

As long as the speedo has a speed sensor, it should work. Some 79's (maybe some 80's) came w/o cruise control, and likely also didn't have a speed sensor. Technically there's no way to tell on a car w/o cruise control unless you pull the speedo gauge unit.

It's located to the right of the speedo as you look at the rear of the unit. At least that's where mine is at on my '83. The dash from my '79 doesn't have one since it doesn't have cruise. If anyone has an extra harness for an analog dash with cruise control LMK. I would love to swap my digi for ****...og but the harnesses I have don't have the same pinout.
