Where are all the nice wheels?
Alright...i've been looking, and i've found some nice 15" set ups, some nice 16" set ups...but where are all the ZX's with 17's with a decent width and a flush offset (+15 or so)...and i don't wanna see any friggin spinners either lol. I understand the nostalgia look with the smaller wheels...and i love that look don't get me wrong, im just looking for new ideas.

Quality costs money. I would have a much higher level of confidence with Ross's wheel adapters than these generic ones.
Ross's have been proven at the race track and the last thing you want is your wheel to pass you on the highway at 80 mph...

Seriously. I dont know about the quality of M.M. adaptors but i can tell you from experience . . .having your wheel pass you up is no fun. I used to drive a pro 1 ASDA series rail car for a local shop and the car sheered the lugs on the adaptors right off at about 70 going through some harsh dunes. ALL BAD. I can only imagine what would have happend had that been on the street or strip.

so u would say not to use spacers? wheel hub adapters am i right ? i have looked at all my options and i think i will just go to 17 inch mustang 4 lug rims ill buy the ugly yellow ones on ebay nd repaint them etc to a color i like what do u think ? ill change out the center caps with the center caps from the new 2005 nissan altama rims, 350z rims etc what do you think ?

To answer the original question, there are very few 17" and larger wheels that bolt right up and have +0 to +15 offset. If you find them, I'm sure they'll be around $500-600 each wheel, and the chances you find a set used are very slim.
Buy Modern Motorsports adaptors if you do buy adaptors. $40 extra for the set is nothing compared to the quality and confidence you'll have buying from an established Z related business.
But on that note, the adaptors are made to use wheels with +35 and +40 offset. Basically you have very little or no dish in your wheel. They are FWD type offsets. +15 will have that RWD deep dish look, especially on 7, 8, or wider wheels.
All late model RWD cars are 5-lug and are +30 offset, which is less than FWD by just a little. Even the RWD 240SX has a FWD offset...
If you do a 5-lug swap, you can use 350Z fitment wheels. (Supra, Mustang, Z32, ect) you'll get a decent lip on 8 inch wide wheels which fit fine. Also the selection of wheels will be huge in 17, 18, and 19 inch diameters.
I was actually planning to do a 5-lug swap to get a better wheel selection. At the time I came accross a used set of Simmons Racing wheels which are 3-piece custom wheels. They only come in 16" diameter. I wanted 17 or 18 but because these were zero offset and 4-lug I decided to just buy them. They have a tremendous deep dish and require no suspension mods to fit so I save some time and money there.
There are adaptors made that will bolt to your 4-lug hubs and give you 5-lugs with the 30mm spacing you need. This is the easiest 5-lug swap. I was going to go the route of using Z31 parts and redrilling some rotors to do my swap so I had a stronger setup but even then it would still require a pair of adaptors on the rear to space them out. The front would be brought outward on its own.
There really are a lot of options, but none of them involve just buying a 4-lug wheel from the store that bolts on and comes in 17, 18 inch diameter and +10 offset. The Simmons wheels are made to order from Austrailia and cost quite a bit. About $1500-2500 depending on width.
The 280ZX has very deep fender wells. You can easily fit 8 inch width wheels front and rear.
I have heard that the max width you can fit under the stock fender is 8.5" front and 10 inches rear. Both require about +10 and +12mm offset. At those widths, a 15" wheel will hit the trailing a-arm in the rear. Either a zero offset and flares would be required (pushing the wheel outward) or 16" and larger wheels will clear. I test fitted my 16x10 in the back and they clear. Right now I believe the offset is zero.

Yes, they will. CenterLine continues to make their wheels in the Z car bolt and offset.
That's why I have two and a half sets of CenterLine wheels.
Call, tell them what you want and what car it's for and a week later they show up on your door step. No muss, no fuss.
Here's the set I use for the street:
I also have a set and a half of the fluted star's:
That's old school cool...

The ZX has much wider rear wheel wells. I've seen only 8 inch wide front and rear on an S30 body. (and actually tuck with stock fenders) 8.5 front, 10 inch rear on a S130. Probably 17x10 in the back. +15 offset is about right. Maybe +10 I know, not much help....
