Cool

Hi Everyone,

If you would like to buy a Factory Service Manual and don't mind spending some money...there is the Printable, searchable, CD ROM from Courtey Nissan. Here is the link http://www.courtesyparts.com/secondtier_s130.html . Take Care and happy wrenching.

280ZX Manuals in order of quality:

1. Factory Service Manual from Nissan for your specific year
2. Haynes Repair Manual 280ZX: 79-83
3. Chiltons Z & ZX: 1970-89 (last resort)

All three can be found on eBay. I paid about $80 for my FSM on eBay years ago. Haynes should be available for $5-10 each. Chiltons should be $5 or free.

One good piece of info the Chilton has that the others dont is a good description of how to make a timing chain wedge out of hardwood. This is used so you can remove the upper chain sprocket or the head without having to pull the front cover. The wedge keeps the chain from dropping off the lower sprocket.

Fsm

Any Nissan dealer can get them, Courtesy Nissan has them on CD's for $30, and EBay has them listed quite often, just need to keep looking for them.

At courtesy the CD's go for $70. Dyment are mostly out of the manuals but will copy them. The bad thing about this is, it doesn't have a binding, it's all loose leaf, not even a ring binder.

ebay the best place.

www.zcarparts.com sells copies of the original manuals and they send it you you with some kinda binder thing.... hard to describe but stuff doesn't fly all around, the copies were perfect even the wiring diagram was right on, I think it cost me around $75 from them, it was 4 years ago though

hey when you buy a new fsm, does it come with the full color wiring diagram like the originals had. that thing is so handy being color and all on one really long page.

CarFiche.com Has pdf scans of some of the original factory service manuals. Very useful and free. If the manual you want says TnA next to it, wait and hour and come back. For some reason they only have certain ones available at a time and it changes each hour.

is there an FSM specifically for the 83' 280ZX Turbo? Or just the 83' 280ZX? All I seem to find is the FSM for the 82' 280ZX.

I have actually found FSM's that were specifically for 280zx turbos. And I found them in different years also. They are probably more in depth, than the regular FSM's. The turbo ones, don't come around verry often. But I have seen them before.

I've got the 81 turbo and to me it seemed just as indepth as the other 82-83 versions.
