Welcome to ZDriver!

It's not a bad deal, but always try to negotiate. A car that hasn't run in a few years will need a full tune up, drain the gas tank, and a deep cleaning. Rust isn't worth repairing unless you have $5k+ to burn. Expect some work, and some unforeseen problems. BTW, those aren't turbo wheels as he stated... just the stock 82-83 n/a 14" 6 spokes.

Too much rust for me. Especially with the work that probably needs to be done.

To buy as a restoration project, yes... a lot of rust usually leads to suicidal tendencies. But if he just wants a daily driver 280zx and doesn't care about rust, it's a fairly good deal... especially if he can trade a gun for it.

The wheels that are on it in the picture are not turbo wheels, those are the normal 280zx wheels, just saying this because he said the car has turbo wheels

I went the route of spending a bunch of effort on a 2+2 with a smaller price tag and much lest rust/damage, and it ran really well.

I'm now cannabalizing it for my 260 project.

Rue,

I am down the road in Blacksburg, I can take a look at it for you if you bump me a little gas money. PM if you are interested.

From what I have seen in the area, you need to check out the under carriage and see how much rust is there. Since it has not run in a while = has not been inspected in a while. Holes underneath and it will not pass. Floor boards can be welded but when you get further back where the rear suspension connects it will be more problematic. As already mentioned get rid of the old gas if it has any in it (the tank may have already rusted through). Another thing to check out would be water damage from leaking tops or window seals. Since it has been sitting, you will also need to check for mouse damage.....

I'm going to hang on to it. I went out and started her up yesterday for the first time in three months and she fired up and purred at the first tap of the key.

I started up a 280ZXT with 2 1/2 year old gas with the stock EFI and it fired right away as well. I've never seen a car start like a 280ZX.
