LoL... no you don't... Body & paint is crappy crappy manual labor. It's a good skill to have as a hobby & for side work, but sucks *** as a full time job.... I know from personal experience.

Nismo is right. Learn to fabricate and do machine work. That's the fun stuff. And you get to use cool toys like CNC lathes or mills.
Body work is a continuous cycle of sanding, followed by more sanding, followed by more sanding and culminates in... you guessed it MORE SANDING!
Seriously, paint and body work is the worst. Machine work, welding, fabricating is a constantly changing set of problems that exercise your brain.
Good body work requires a skilled patient, patient, patient, patient person.
I'm neither. When I want good body work, I pay someone who is. When I can live with something just thrown on to keep the rust away, I can pull that off as long as nobody has to look at it for long...

yup thats why i do the bodywork on the side, its great as a hobby, but sucks professionally. i get to work on cop cars at work and fabricate, weld build and have fun. we just got a new inverter tig welder, runs on a 30 amp breaker and can go through 1/2 plate. nice machine, makes me look even better too. all i do is work on car, build car models, and race r/c cars, not to mention drive car on gt-4 and auto x when i get a chance. my g/f says i need a diversion!!!

man didnt you ever watch that hot rod show on discovery. kinda liek american choppers, but about building hot rods. they ahd the one guy who was with them for years, and the job blew (bodywork guy for them) and quit and everyone was sad. see tv doesnt even sugar coat bodywork, it must be tough work. ive done it to it blows even when doing it for yourself. but well worth it to know the skill.
