The RB26dett and RB25 will both drop in with a large amount of fabrication. I've also heard of people putting in the SR20det and even the KA24. All of those engine are Nissan and all have potential (some more than others). OR you could just keep the L28 and build that up, possibly do a turbo swap. There are just so many choices.

i would think your best bet would be to find a nice 280zxT engine....and drop it in or upgrade to a bigger turbo right away and get it over with...this would bolt up to original mounts and everything...

It is fairly common to see a small block V8 swap as well.

Ditto. I am doing the swap right now. I say if you are looking to not spend 10,000+, stick with an L28ET (280ZX turbo engine) or a small block chevrolet. Both put out some nice power... I went with the V8 just b/c my mechanic is doing it for less money than it would have cost to do the turbo swap.

Like Skully said... Welcome

Yeah....I'd keep the L28 block. They're very durable and you can find some nice examples of 700+ hp modles.
