Brake lights

Do you mean the brake warning light in the dash, or the brake lights on the rear of the car?
If it's the brake warning light, does it:
* come on only when you press on the brake pedal?
* come on only when you turn on the parking or headlights?
* stay on all the time after the ignition is turned on?

Check on your brake pedal, near the top. There should be two soft plastic, almost rubbery, pressed in buttons that make contact to the brake light switch. These cars are old enough that these parts get hard/brittle and break. If these are still on the brake pedal, then chances are that you will need to adjust the brake light switch.
Have a buddy go to the rear of the car while you reach under the dash and physically press on the switch. If the lights go out, then you know what the problem is.

Is it the brake lights only, or the parking lights in the rear too, that are staying on?
The lights do go off when you turn off the ignition, right?
Does the brake warning light does NOT come on at all, right?

I think I figured it out, those soft plastic pieces screw over a hard plastic button, right? Cause there are to hard plastic buttons that go through two holes in the top of my brake pedal, under my dash, with threads behind them like something was screwed over them.
The warning light DOES come on, and the lights stay on even after the key is removed. I was mistaken in the first post.
