Question Brakes messing with engine?

I have a puzzling problem. I have a 84 turbo Z, my brakes seem to be messing with my engine somehow. In the mornings or after sitting for a few hours, when I go to drive the car, I have to pump the brakes before I start going and it takes about four pumps of the pedal before the brakes work. Then when I'm driving it usually takes one pump in order for the brakes to work well.

The really puzzling part is that when I pump the brakes the engine idles lower and lower with every pump. I have no idea what would cause that. I have just started looking into it to find the problem, if anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Right now I'm just going to start looking through my haynes manual to see what I can find.

or both........... you prolly have a fluid leak that causes the system to lose pressure and a vacuum leak in the booster or the vacuum line to it. Fix the fluid leak first.

It's normal for the idle to drop a little when you pump the brakes. The motor shouldn't almost die tho.

I 3rd the booster, and most certainly a leak.

When you pump, if its a vaccuum leak, that could cause the engine to distort. Just do a good check over under the hood, and park on a level surface and look for shinny spots in the mornin.

good luck
