can i do this?

hi, i have an 85 300zx2+2, and i do not have the keys for the doors. I've been told a key smith to make a key for it will not be worth it. So i have thought about just installing an key less entry/ car alarm system in it instead. Would that work for what i need it to do...lock the doors?

this is the item i am considering in buying, i would like feedback in letting me no if it would work

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=019

its item number 290174451282

And then you'd have no alarm. You should use an appropriate alarm with keyless entry if you really want keyless entry.

Buy an aftermarket alarm that has keyless entry. Don't just buy a keyless entry system unless you don't want to have a working alarm.

Why would a locksmith tell you that making a key for your car isn’t worth it? Is the car’s overall condition so hopeless that making a key for it is a waste of money?

Open the glove compartment door. Affixed to the door should be a sticker with a four digit number printed on it. That’s the key number. A Nissan parts dept. person can make you a key given the key number.

If the sticker is missing, then you’re SOL. Tell a Nissan dealer your predicament and see what they recommend.

if you can get into the car then why not pop out the locks and get a new set?

getting a key made from scratch cost's me $15 and about a week, just bring the ignition drum or if you can find the key number just bring them that and they will make you one.
