Changing a leather dash color?

Is there anyway I could change the color of this dash? Its leather, so im afraid to just paint it with some krylon... I dont really care for the dark red/burgandy.

WTF? That dash is clean too! Why ya wanna ruin it? You can get interior spraypaints for leather & vinyl, but it won't ever look as good as the original leather... It will most likely look cheap & you'll wish you hadn't.... unless the "custom teenage ricerocket" look is what you're into.

Why dont you try trading it? Put it up for sale on here and other forums like HybridZ and whatever other Z forums you can find. Then instead of putting a price let them know that you are looking for a dash in the same condition but in whatever color you are looking for. If you cant find any biters then try just selling it and buying one in the color you want. Dont ruin it by going cheap and trying to color it. You could also sell it the get a not so great one for really cheap and have it recovered. Or even have yours recovered. The options are endless so I'm just going to stop so I can get to the rest of the forums

Correct me if I am wrong, but the dash is not leather. The stitch lines around the air vents and the texture are molded to give the appearance of leather. If it were real leather, it would be more weathered, like the steering wheel.

Rob-84AE is correct. The dashboard is NOT covered with leather; it’s vinyl. The z31’s leather option only included leather seats and a leather wrapped steering wheel.

It might not be recommended to redye vinyl, especially since the present color is maroon, a dark color. Ask an auto upholsterer before trying to DIY.

actually, the dash is rubberized. it isn't a cloth type material at all.

i have a crappy dash you can take from me....I hate tan... with a passion.

ps, if you get really fine sand paper and run it over the surface, dont scrub or take layers off, just lightly scuff it and paint it with a flat color, prolly black, thats what I did. and all should be well, again, get some scrap interior pieces from the junk yard and experiment. The car is your canvas

It is easy just find s a stock color one on e-bay etc. but remember that once you change the dash you are changing the factory interiorcolor combination. hence the entire interorwill not match. I did what you want to do from Blue to black, but it takes time to find all interior parts to match the cange.
IF IT IS FACTORY COLOR YOU WANT. but it is simple to do and just like anythn else, TIME and MONEY.
