My speedometer is crazy

My speedometer is crazy

It sits normal at idle, then when you hit the gas it goes crazy.It just keeps spinning around.Any help would be great.

you have a loose cable, check on your transmission first, ( a little easier to access) and make sure the cable is not loose on your speed sensor, see if that helps, if not, pull your guages out, and check the cable on the back. if that does not help, you prolly need a new cable or speed sensor.

Next time, try posting more information that might give people a clue how to help you.

There are 4 different instrument clusters that use 3 different speed sensors.

Basically, your speed sensor is gummed up with transmission fluid. Replace the oil seals at the speedometer pinion gear on the transmission as well as cleaning out the speed sensor itself. if you have a speedometer cable, you will have to drain all the fluid out of it also.
