Stereo Problems
I've already read the "after market stereo instalation guide" so don't tell me to go read it.
It has helped me a little but i'm still not able to get everything wired up properly.
I had the front right and rear left speakers wired but then i couldn't figure out how to wire the others to save my life, i compared what the Article here said to my wire guide for my new system and idk whats going on. im so lost....

The easiest way electronically is to run new wires to everything,
but thats the hardest way physically.
It's the way I did mine, I had to remove the center console, and the lift up compartment thing in the back and alot of the plastic interior pieces.then as far as the power goes just run new everything, except what has to be hooked up to the,acc wire on the ignition switch.
Gl man It's a hassle but well worthi it when you are done.

yeah it sure is a hassle
I went through tonight after my failed attempt to wire everything, i looked over the wire guide on the forums and then read over the one that came with my head unit and i drew myself a chart of exactally what wires needed to be crimped together so tommorow im going to go in and crimp everything the way it should be according to the colors from both charts that i matched together and hope it works *crosses fingers*

a good way to figure out what wire goes to what speaker is to take a AA battery and touch the bare ends to the terminals on the battery, one on positive and one on negative. whichever speaker you hear static from is the one those wires are connected to. hope this helps.

what i was doing is using the balance and fade to single out one speaker and then touch the wires together until music came on ect ect. But that only worked for the two of em. I looked over the chart thing i made and according to the article on the forums the Red wire is the Negative for both the front and rear right speaker, which i think was giving me the problems before =P we will see. I'm going to do some work on it today after school.

have you singled out which wires correspond to which speakers with the battery trick? are you sure the balance is centered? are all your connections good? are all the speakers good? are the wires connected at the speaker end? what connection method are you using? best is solder & shrink tube, second is butt connectors, worst is twist & tape.

yeah i just put brand new speakers in. Yeah, balance/fade is all centered, connections are good. Im sure the wires are connected to the speakers well, I crimped them on there good and tested em.
*Edit* when you rewire the whole car, do you by pass the stock harness and just run the wires straight from the head unit to each speaker?

Ummm are you using the zeds Stock factory amp? if so, then dont bother, its a waste of time and sounds crap. Re run everything that way you dont have to dig for wires everytime you want to add an amp to your fronts.

Common Ground (SF, GL, SS models)
No new stereo (at least, none of the decent ones) can handle common ground applications. This means you need to run new wires for a pair of speakers (either front or rear). When you run new wires, if you've already cut the old plugs off, tape off the wires. You do not need to worry about the extra wire that appears to go no where. From the point of view of the stereo, it doesn't matter if you rewire the front or the rear.

i re wired some of mine but i also re used some of the stock bose wireing. if you can't keep it all strait- write it down-i have to do this-otherwise start from scratch or have a perfessional do it

Start from scratch man. I put all new replacement speakers in doors and 2 rear, 2 twelves in back, new stereo, and 2 amps in mine with all new wiring in about 4 hours and then about 30 minutes tuning everything. Just tap into the harness in the dash for your ignition, 12vdc constant, ground, and antenna wire. I have put in quite a few systems, stereos, and speakers so it will probably take you a little longer if you are not familiar w/ the process. The hardest part is keeping the wires neat and hidden.

The instructions from the head unit you bought will tell you all you need to know. There should be an orange or yellow wire coming from the head unit(goes to 12vdc constant, meaning all the time), red(12vdc switched, hook to a wire that has 12vdc when ign. switch is turned on), black(ground, somewhere metal on the dash), blue(antenna wire). After you figure all those out, you just run 2 wires from the green and green/black wires to 1 speaker, run 2 from the white and white/black wires to 1 speaker, 2 from the grey and grey/black wires to 1 speaker, 2 wires from purple and purple/black wires to 1 speaker. It takes a few minutes to run the new wires but it sure as hell simplifies your stereo system.

thank you
I have all the power wires connected right.
Im going to buy some speaker wire and do what you said and run them from the head unit to each speaker. My interior is 90% ripped out right now so its not like a few more wires showing will bother me
