84 turbo won't start
Ok, as short and sweet as i can make it...
engine rebuilt and dropped back in, used to start but idle erratically and stall out after about 15-20 seconds. since the engine has been back in, the distributer was replaced, the timing was just checked and found to be off, now the belt and marks are perfect, they were off when it idled funny, now everything is exact though. then i dropped the distributer in with #1 @ TDC and still the belt and everything was perfect, like in the pics in the manual, so it can't be the timing. i checked the fuel line to make sure it was getting to the rail, all injectors are plugged in, all wires connected, ECU is not broken... But the car wont even idle now. The battery cables aren't bolted on, just laying on with a charger connected to give it more crank power, but the battery is probably beat, I replaced the alternator last year though before the engine rebuild, so I don't think it is that either. That's about everything I did to the car, I don't know what else to check, the plugs were new with the rebuild, i guess ill replace them next since i don't have any other ideas. any help is appreciated, i miss this car badly and my 86 needs head/manifold work so i need to park it before it gets hurt too bad and i am out of ideas and short on time.
thanks in advance

Re: 84 turbo won't start
You stated that #1 piston was at TDC....is that on exhaust stroke possibly? if you think it may be, pull the distributor out, turn the crank manually till the piston goes down and back up..then put the dist back in with rotor facing #1

Re: 84 turbo won't start
Try unplugging the AFM and see if it starts. If it does, then that could be where the problem lies. Unplugged it will idle in "limp mode" but will only rev up to about 2k. Another thing to check is your CAS. If that's gone out you can find them at junkyards, and the maxima's CAS found in the 8? to 93 years (with the vg30 engine) will fit also. Turbo and non use the same CAS which is why the maxima one will work.
