85 300ZX NA, Good deal?

look at the nissan
I had a look at it and the guy said will sell it to me for $2000, he says he can sell it for 3000 in the spring(true?), but wants to get rid of it now. i had a look at it, and the paint is in very good condition, there is some very minor rust on the rear quarter panels. the engine looked good. he had it regularly serviced at the dealer since 1990. new timing belt, new transmission, and the interior is decent.

its in the snow.... is this in canada? km!?!?!? lol. its pretty up there in KM so unless these are hard to find in canada. its not worth much here in the states any ways. unless its in GREAT condition its only worht 1k i would think. Z31's arent worth very much. and true and fals greg, spring cars do sell for more. but thats why people dont list till spring. lol. like me, im letting people know the 260 is for sale but am not listing it cause people dont want these cars in the winter.

but on the other hand, dealership records are VERY nice. it means he dumped lots of money into it to keep it maintained. look into the cost of having someone weld up the rust. i think it's a pretty good deal. haggle a bit and go for 1400-1600

alright it can be true most of the time
but I feel like I've talked to a lot people that always say they could get it for so much more if they did ______
but typically they don't
I'm just pessimistic about that stuff

well 215km is only 134miles, so its not that high mileage from these cars, judging from what i can tell from the forums...

any advice on haggling? ive never done it before, any words or strategies?(should i put this question in a new thread?)

yeah, walk up with cash in hand with what you want to pay for it, say this is what i got on me in CASH. money talks

and you sure about that conversion? but yeah i was a little over exagerated on the lot of miles. it is, but not necessarily. mileage speaking, anything over 100k is alot, from this car stand point its not. you know?

i think i understand.... 50k of poorly maintained miles is a lot worse than 150k of dealer-serviced miles...

o and the car was only driven in summer...

yeah, i can say that too. but it would be a lie. well, for one of my cars

dont accept petty crap like that as a good reason unless its something he can back up.

i know there isnt, that was my point, dont allow stuff like that to be a reason to keep the price up cause he cant prove it.

o and its also needs the throttle-body sensor or something, or throttle sensor... he claims it costs like 50 bucks, he said the dealer was gonna put it in with the new tranny(2years old by the way) for free, but the part wasnt in... they just increased the idle speed to for a temporary fix

yeah good plan, that's how I bought my bike

he wanted about 1200
I went there with 900 in hand. He said he wasn't going to go that low and I told him that's all I was willing to spend so I took off.
The next day he called me and we settled on 950

this isnt a Z32 its a Z31. and its easier just to replace it with a new part. not like its expensive or difficult.
