analog dash lights

Could someone help, i am tired of driving around at night with no dash lights. I have been told so many things, but if someone could point me in the right directions, i would be thankful

check fuses.
check relays
check steering column light switch.
check dimmer switch.

check what bum says, then check the bulbs.
