Water pump was going, & finally went last night ....
I'm gunna pull it out tomorrow, you guys got any tips or suggestions (I know the general procedure, but this is my first time w/the Z). Any suggestions on other things to change while I'm elbow deep into my Z?

 

Total timing belt job...
all 4 belts
hoses
cam seals
crank seal
belt tensioner
tensioner stud
water pump
thermostat
CHTS

I think that's it. But look on http://z31.com/ and look in the repairs section to be sure.

I tried to do mine and it was a pain in the a$$. It is a 7 hour job for the guys at nissan and they probably know far more than most of us do.

 

I think I would agree. But I had to give it a try, worked on it from 8:00am to 11:30pm yesterday....its a real back breaker. Still not done yet, but I'll get it tonight....

There are people on z31.com and zcar.com that claim to be able to do it in under 2 hours. And if I didn't care that dirty parts were going back on my car, I probably could too. As it stands, I can probably do it all in about 4 to 5 hours and that includes cleaning the parts before they go back on as well as clean up afterwards.

 

Damn Z Bum !.... Finished lit ast night....I think it was a good 12 hours (1st time), excluding interuptions, trips to auto store, cleaning everything, & painting the timing belt covers....

 

Yeah, it's a bitch alright. That job took me a little over 5 hours a couple of weeks ago. Man, those seals were hard as a rock and the tensioner bearing made noise. This Saturday, it's gonna be front struts. Yea
