Best Mufflers?
Hey all,
Im looking into buying a new muffler and tips in the near future but im stomped by the simple question of which ones are the best.
Which provides the most power? The best sound? how much would they cost and how does it look?
Id appreciate anyones pictures, or reflections of their muffler and tips and any help one determining the best muffler for each of these categories.
Thanks,

Mufflers don't create power. The first question is do you have turbo? It's all about flow. Dynomax makes the best flowing muffler I know of. Very deep sound on a 3" system. Part# wlk-17223

Re: Best Mufflers?
hey,
Yeah the size of the piping is where it is at for a turbo do at least 3inch if its a none turbo then do about 2.5 As far as mufflers go Dynomax or flowmaster are really good and for a pretty good one they will run you about $125.00 then add on a tip on top of that. Ractive tips are normally the best from what i have seen and they are stainless steele for around 40 and up about that. I put a Flowmaster on my and open all the piping up to 2.5 and tore off the cat. It sounds really good not really rice rocket or anything but it suits the car. I put an eliptical tip by ractive it fit perfectly and coverd that little cut out exactly i have a bunch of pics of it just not sure where they are. Once i find them i can scan them in for you to have a look at. Hope everything goes well. Oh yeah and it generally takes about 1 to 2 weeks for the mufflers to really wear in and get rid of that little tiny sound so keep that in mind to.

Re: Best Mufflers?
I just put a HKS system on my '88 Turbo and love it. Got it from Courtesy Nissan in Richardson, TX. Sound is barely deeper at idle and looks almost bone stock - which I love - w/ dual chrome tips. Car feels much stronger through the gears with this system. With a K&N air filter probably gets you 8-10HP increase on a Turbo. If you want lotsa sound & show probably recommend a Borla (single tip) or also look at www.certifiedmuffler.com as they build systems (single or dual tip) for Z31 in 2.5 & 3" diameters. I've got a Hi-Flo Catalytic convertor on order from them. Good luck.
