Boost Sensor?

ok, i don't know wtf the damn thing is really, all i know is that it's on the driver side fender in the engine bay and it says boost sensor on it. it has two plug ins on it and if they're disconnected while she's running she bogs down and idles like ****. but if it's unplugged and she's not started she won't start...at all. i've seen alot of Zs without this and was wondering what this is exactly, what it does, and how can i take it off. it also has i'm guessing vacumm lines on it and other air lines on it. thanks guys.

A boost sensor well... "senses boost" (and vacuum). It is the sensor for the boost gauge, and may be for the ecu as well (you can check the FSM for the answer). Replace it if it isn't working correctly.

It's for the gauge on the dash. Nothing else.

dude, the boost sensor has nothing to do with ECU, if you are playing with the wires and getting odd results, i would check that part of the harness and check the coil wiring, then check the local grounds..

You take it off by disconnecting and removing it. But I'm almost positive there are no wires that lead from it to the ECU.

Okay... getting to the bottom of this...

Maybe you could post a pic? The boost sensor should only have one plug on it (from what I remember). The other plug may be for something else.

If it runs fine plugged in, and doesn't while unplugged... what is the problem? Leave it plugged in and the car is happy. You want a happy car don't you?

"A lot of Z's without this" ? Maybe they weren't the turbocharged model?

Are you unplugging the vacuum line as well? If so, that will be a part of it. These cars are very susceptible to problems if they have vacuum leaks.
