digital tach flaky at times

So, I was on a 600 mi round trip mini road trip last weekend, and i noticed that my tach would randomly go from showing a correct reading, to jumping down to zero, then back to a normal reading. It did this maybe a total of 6 times that i saw but it is very quick, it does it within a half of a second at most. The car doesn't die or jerk at all and I'm wondering if I need to grab a spare distributor before i go on my next trip. It is an 86 N/A 5-speed 2+2 With the digital instrument cluster.

Any ideas are welcome!

Thanks
-Mark

In my short experience with Z31's, I've never seen a consistently working digital instrument cluster.

Must be pretty common considering there are various walk-through's on how to remove/replace the digital gauges in place for the analog variant.

yeah, i had an '87 with the digital cluster and there was always something going haywire with that thing. in the 2 years i owned it, i don't thing there was a day where all of the gauges were showing correct readings at the same time. 80's digital tech for you.
