Entirely Too Much Oil

I was doing some back road driving the other day and really opened up my car once I reached a straight away. The rpm's were up there, but no where near red line. Once I came to a stop sign I noticed a rather loud clicking noise coming from my engine. I assumed it was a loose zip tie or other old fastening device that found its way towards one of my belts. I pulled into my drive way several minutes later and the decided to inspect the car while it was still running. I didnt notice anything loose, but something told me to check my oil. To my surprise there was probably three times the amount of oil that was necessary. Come to find out, after I replaced my valve cover gaskets my brother in law took it upon himself while i was inside to add an additional 5 quarts of oil. Upon finding this out I immediately drained my oil and headed out to get a whole new set of plugs and a new filter. When I got back I checked on the oil and it was jet black. I removed and then installed the new filter and replaced the oil plug. Before adding oil I decided I pull the spark plugs out of the right side of the engine first considering its much easier. Each plug had burnt tips and were covered in oil. I tool everything off for inspection on the left side and noticed there was oil in my throttle body. After a thorough cleansing I attempted to put the throttle body back on when I realized one of the old vacuum lines had basically crumbled. Im heading out tomorrow to replace it, along with both coolant lines that run into the throttle body. I found myself sitting in my garage sipping a bud wondering what I was going to do. I know an oil bomb going off under the hood isn't a good thing by any means. I know out of all the Z sites and self help books, this is the only place Ill truly get some honest help. All advice and knowledge is welcome.

Ask your bro-in-law why he can't freaking check the dipstick before adding oil....

and why 5 full quarts? where did he get that idea from? and thats unfortunate, any pressurized system shouldn't be over filled. plus, thats just alot of wear on the rotating assembly.
