First try here.

If you're talkin about the white lights like you see on those hondas and stuff... Haven't seen those yet. Will probably have to get someone to custom make them. If you find someone that'll do custom lights for an 87, let me know.

Well, you're wait is over. What you are after is a sealed beam headlight conversion to use H4 style bulbs. H4 bulbs come in halogen, or Xeonon gas so you can have normal yellowish 80's technology lights, or new white lights. Or yes, you can get blue, green, purple, red headlights too if you want.
You can choose from a normal looking front glass, or a cool diamondback multi-reflector style housing. The size is 8 inches by 6 inches approximatly. Same thing that goes in the 1989-93 240SX and most any car or truck using one pair of rectangle headlights. You can get a pair of them WITH bulbs on eBay for about $40-50. That's very cheap I think.
I have seen them on a Z31 in my Z-club and they look pretty nice. They would probably look very cool at night with the "headlights down" modification.

Note that these are not real Xenon bulbs and that they are not DOT approved. In other words, if a cop wants to pull you over, you can get a ticket for them.

What is a "real" Xenon bulb?
Some of them are DOT approved, it all depends on the brand. This style of headlight conversion has been approved by the DOT but only the brands that submitted their product. Those certain brands might cost more. The example I pulled here from eBay may not be. Look for the kind that have a center cover over the bulb itself. I got some for my Datsun 620 that are 5.75 inch round housings and it says DOT on the glass. The ones I have for my 280ZX are not DOT, but I got them years ago when they first came out.

Real xenon bulbs require a ballast to use much in the same way florescent lights do. They also still cost well over $400. EACH.

HID lights use a ballast. I always though that a Xenon bulb was just a Xenon gas charged light bulb, but the "real" thing people spoke of was High Intensity Definition headlights. I do realize these are not HID lights, but they are better than halogen bulbs.
However, if you want an HID system, this style of housing will hold certain HID setups. The price on the systems have dropped quite a bit. You can get a setup like that for about $400-500 now. I have not purchased one.
Recently I did see something new that was a bulb that had a small ballast of some sort claiming that it ran the bulb at 140w or something but was not an HID system. I'm not sure what that was about.
