Exhaust advice needed...
Can anyone tell me of a god exhaust system for under 450$ that does not take any torque away and gives off a great deep sound during acceleration, dont want one of thoose high pitched exhaust like all the young guys have. I have a turbo so I think I should go with 2 1/2 inch pipes, withmaybe a little bigger tip. Any advice? I want to hear it a litte when im idling, not much, and I want to hear it when I accelerate. I want the type you could go on a trip with and not get to annoyed.
Also does anyone kow of a good exhaust which has one on each side, I would call it a dual but then you would get it mixed up with one sided or two sided.
Any help i appreciated...

The best would be 2.5 or 3" mandrel bent exhaust. Your choice, 3" is going to be more performance sounding and much more expensive.
I've heard msa mufflers are good. not sure about the noise factor though.
While you're at it, headers also. If you've got money
About the dual tips, you mean catback system? Around $300 I think. I think they're overrated.

Re: exhaust advice
If you have a turbo you should already have 2.5" pipes. If you just want a good sound try Magna-Flow. If you wanted performance I'd recommend something else but from your post it seems like a "throaty" sound is all you're after. I wouldn't worry about losing low end torque. If you have a turbo low end torque is kind of a non-issue.

Re: exhaust advice
Thanks for all the info guys,
Yes it will be a catback, but I have one question. Would a 3" pipe connect to the cat if it is at 2.5" stock. Im looking fr the best sound and perfermence possible for under around 400 or so dollars. I have a 1984 A/E eddition turbo automatic.
Do any of you have pictures of what they these exhaust look like, how much power they deliver, and how much they cost. My dad has a 92 TT which he bought a mandrel bent exhaust for and they sound great, but of coarse they are double duals and his car has alot of power to sound off the exhaust.
I have one other question so that I dont have to start another post. How big are the speakrs in the door's. Would 6" pioneer speakes fit in there. Im also replcing the dash and was wondering what, if any, kind of speakers were up there. We one the speakers at the show and they will eiher go on my car or my sisters 90 N/A so im hoping they fit in mine so that I get them and not her, lol.
Sorry for so many questions, I just bought the car and Im looking for some nice cheaper things to do it.
Thanks,

Re: exhaust advice
no, will not connect to the cat.
why not save your money on the cat back and do 3" all the way through, with new 3" high flo cat?
you might even save money. just an idea.
and now that z31's back up

speakers, 6.5's all around.

Re: exhaust advice
Here is what I did on my 85t:
3" aluminized http://www.certifiedmuffler.com/ dp $175.
3" hi-flow cat from mufflerdeals@aol.com $70.
3" cat-back pipes from http://www.certifiedmuffler.com/ $170.
3" round Dynomax muffler $60. - $25. rebate $35.
That's pretty close to your $400. target
This is a strictly high performance exhaust and so obviously not for everyone due to the sound level but if you want your turbo to perform to it's highest capability (which isn't much honestly) it's the way to go. If you can get away with it, there is a 3" test pipe available from mufflerdeals but it will increase the dB level. HKS makes a catback but it is around 2.5" and prices vary from about $350. on up depending on where you buy.
