Fuel pump power and fuel delivery issues 87 turbo.
I got a 87 z31 turbo recently not running as it sat for some time, but I have heard it on starting fluid sounds good. Flushed the tank, tested fuel pump and was intermittent. Got a walbro 255, installed it and no power to pump. Can power pump directly with a 12v, have tested relay in bside pillar albeit it may not be my fuel pump relay from other sources I've heard. The fuel pump works, the suspected fuel pump relay works and has good continuity. Turn key to ON, fuel pump doesn't prime, and I've primed it manually while in the tank and no fuel has come through the hose into the engine bay, so I suspect possibly no pressure through fuel system? I'm at a standstill and could use some assistance to get her running, but as far as I'm seeing I get no power to the relay terminal and in turn the fuel pump harness, and the fuel pump being manually operated doesnt get fuel delivered, please help!!!

I'll check for that tomorrow, but I dissected the fuel pump today and noticed my wiring was subpar, so I went back in and made a solid connection, as well as my fuel sender had a wire come off its solder. I also noticed that the fuel pump while being engaged directly wasnt pumping fuel, and I dont think I actually have enough in it currently to even reach the pump to prime (fuel hose provided and stock one both cause the walbro to be seated higher than the stock pump), so is it possibly the pump isnt trying to prime because the fuel sender had a bad connection or sensed low fuel?

ive been battling a fuel issue on my 86T, the ecu is still sending a signal to my pump with my sender having a de-soldered wire as well, it just bitches at me when i try to start it about low fuel! (bitching betty still intact lol) i also wired in a second relay, to help the pump get a full 12V, using the ecu hot wire (not a true 12V) as signal. that might help with preventing future issues with a possible lack of fuel, once you figure out where the fuel is going. the bad connection could be one issue not letting it prime and pump. You may need to re-hose the pump cradle to get it to the bottom

Okay well I just primed it while it was in tank today, and had somebody with their finger over the fuel hose on the engine bay letting it on and off trying to build up pressure, and they said no pressure was building and I had also put in a few more gallons. I went underneath the car just now, and I'm not seeing or smelling any fuel that's being relieved other than what I spill it on the filler neck. So again this car has sat for 5 years and I haven't looked at the fuel filter yet, so it may not just be able to make it through that thing if it's that dirty, I'm not sure but I'm also trying to check for voltage on the main harness for the fuel pump and I'm not really getting any fluctuation of voltage reading when I'm turning it on the on or off position, and if I accidentally crank it then all power will cut off sometimes

Alright, I'll yeet that filter out see if I can find fuel at the hose, and I've seen a connector bypass which one wire was loose make end but it's in there again, working. I'm just not hearing it prime or even the relay clicking, but what I think is the safety switch ( green relay next to battery in fender wall) clicks and tested good. The ecu diagnostic says everything's fine which is troublesome

i dont think the diagnostic checks for anything but motor related issues, so something going wrong at the pump, with not alot / no sensors are, probably wont pull anything up, unless it ran, and it sensed that its lean, or rich. With the relay not responding or clicking, i would test the current before, and after, to see if the relays is failed, or if its even getting current.

Meant to respond earlier, didn't let me know of new response lol. So fuel pump has constant power now when plugged in, unless I wiggle the connector than it will come off. I took off the output hose to the filter and clean fuel was waiting for me, slowly seeping out (fuel pump was NOT on at this time) so fuel is at least making it to the filter. There was what sounded like a vac leak next to my pressure regulator, but still no fuel to engine hose. Now the pump still works that way but the vac sound is no longer present, could it be possible I flooded the engine, or that maybe the relay for my efi isnt actuating?

Well I took out my sparkplug, all is well there. Fuel pumps out through the filter and I can feel gas moving through the return hose, but I crank and crank and no start. Runs on starting fluid no issue, so I'm thinking fuel injectors. I'm not sure which connector is for them, but if I find it I plan on giving it 12v to see if I hear them actuate after I read for battery voltage and resistance between the terminals. She wants to run but is starving for fuel it seems

I'm still stumped on this, ran through the FSM and testing for power, 2 ohm resistance when it says it should be around 0, would I be good or is that out of range? It says test for continuity between ecu harness and ground but I'm having a hard time figuring out what they mean by that, if it's just resistance between the plug in on ecu and a ground I got nothing, also no 12v from ecu plug in for terminals and ground. I wanna get her running so i can find out what else needs work. Any assistance at all would be hella appreciated, I'm at wits end

Are you getting new fuel to the injectors now?
And if you are, the injectors could be plugged up/gummed up/not functioning properly.
seems like there could be a few other simple fixes, or at least things to check. could not be holding proper fuel pressure from the regulator not functioning properly.

I haven't pulled the plugs since I replaced the CAS, but the situation seems to be exactly the same. I'm going to be trying to get some christmas lights tomorrow to test for injector pulse, because the readouts (albeit haven't checked since new CAS) are showing battery voltage at only 2 injectors, and ohm resistance to fusible link is not good as per stated in the FSM. Tomorrow I will be checking and cleaning all my efi harness and engine harness grounds, swapping efi relay and having my dad come down to test injectors with the dizzy method (hes set dizzy before and I'll probably mess up timing, but if he does it he has to fix it and I can yell at him haha) I will also be going to jy to tear apart injector harness on the zx there to better learn how it goes together before I dissect mine. Since I'm not power to injectors, would it even be worth it at this time to pull them?

So update as it stands is we got a test light, definitely have pulse to injectors. Disconnected line to fuel rail, no fuel is actually making it to the rails, either my assumption was incorrect or something has changed to where the fuel pump doesnt have enough pressure (added 5 gallons for this test, so I should have enough fuel) to pump the gas through. Looking at the connector to see if it's at fault today.

Alright, the issue with the pump was the fuel line at the pump had burst open, we got it replaced and we have fuel past the filter now. Still no start, but the pump still constantly runs when its plugged in. And we were worried about taking the tire off, lest the shock compresses more and we cant get the wheel back on

injectors
this is the issue im having on my 86T, the injectors have sat with bad fuel in them for 10 years lol. ive got mine in the shed, in the process of doing preventative maintenance that i know need done (basically a whole engine gasket job lmfao) BUT as far as injector services, there might be somewhere close that services and rebuilds them (not the case for me) ive got to just buy new. rock auto and parts geek seems to have them in stock, if you are wanting to just buy new, but there are core fees, too.
