gas sensor,tachometer
Hey there,
About five days ago I was driving with about a 1/4 of gas left when the gas meter started acting strange. It went all the way to empty. Then I filled up the tank with gas and it was fine. As it got to 1/4 empty it started acting strange again. It would go to empty and then back to a 1/4. Two days late I hear this tapping sound that seems to be coming from behind the dash. Anyway has this happened to anybody and is it an easy fix? Please let me know. Fudabuda@aol.com

Re: gas sensor,tachometer
It seems to stop when the tachometer goes above 1. So far it hasn't caused any problems but I have this weird feeling that the dash is telling me its ready to fail altogether. I thought maybe this might have happened to somebody else. Anyway I'll just wait to see if there are any more signs. Thanks again Fudabuda.

I have analog. I was driving and the whole car seems to blink out every once in awhile. I think there's a short somewhere. Let me fix the short and then we'll see. Oh spot, the check, did you deposit it?yet? Take care, let me know. Fudabuda

The gauge problem is the fuel level sending unit is bad. Replace it.
The popping noise is the vacuum operated solenoids are fluttering. There is a vacuum leak, or they are bad. Replace the vacuum lines first. If it doesn't go away, replace the solenoids.
