gauge pods
Any idea where I can find single-gauge pods for the a-pillars, on both the left and right hand side? I'm using them to mount a set of component tweeters, but I don't see any manufacturers making pods for the z31. Will any others offer a good fit without a visit from a heat gun?

Re: gauge pods
Supposedly, the pods made for the 90s eclipse/talon/laser will work. Not sure if they make them for the passenger side as well. Experiment. You may find another style that will work.
But to be honest, having the tweeters firing straight at your head is going to be very bad for imaging. The should fire more towards the middle of the car. Probably something you'll have to make yourself.

Re: gauge pods
Without proper tuning, imaging is going to be bad no matter where in the car the speakers are located. Unless you're driving a F1 car, you're never going to get a symmetrical sound stage without a lot of work. Good car audio is all about tuning and proper component selection, just as it is with any other facet of performance auto.
But yeah, you're right, if I just slapped a set of tweeters up there without any kind of sound processing, it would sound like crap. Fortunately I'm not doing that.
Does Mitsubishi have its own factory performance catalog, a la Nismo?
