getting a turbo z31 soon

hey all just thought i would share the awesome news that in a few weeks i will have my turbo z31. i sold the 87 N/A for $600 to my brother in law, picked up a 97 4 door grand am for my fiance and the 2 kids, and i figured since we got that i can go get my dream z31. found it on auto trader its in PA, paying $4100 but its damn near mint. its having some head work done right now, i guess a few valves were bad. and if i remember right from the pics he had the top of the front fenders are faded a bit but no biggie. anyway its an 88 black inside and out 5 speed and obviously turbo . i cant wait to get it im so excited, driving the N/A around was great but i bet the turbo will be even more fun. should be hopefully about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks we just have to wait for the head work to get finished and then it will be mine. as soon as i get it i will post up some pics and also redo my cardomain for the turbo. i will keep posted on it.

When I got my 87' Z31 Turbo I was quite excited. I love the car, mine is in really good shape, 5-speed, etc. I couldn't believe how much different it was in comparison to the old 85' N/A I had.

yea i bet its alot different than the N/A, i drove an 86 turbo once but unfortunatly not on the road. but there was a big difference there just in a parking lot. I'll probably get in trouble with it shortly after its on the road lol. the winter here is **** and NY uses salt on the roads so it wont be on the road till spring, but I'll be sure to get pics up as soon as i do get it. do you guys know if there is any z31 clubs around western NY? like rochester/buffalo and in between. if so i want to join it, if not then me and my brother in law are going to start one for whoever is near us thats interested.

I would keep looking. $4100 for a car that needs work isn't a great deal.

I gave 2500 for mine and it was also nearly mint. All it needed was a radio.

i just talked to the guy a few minutes ago and apparently it didnt need any head work it was just the MAF and a couple o-rings that was making it start hard in cold. z-bum, i would keep looking but this one is exactly what i have been looking for for 2 years. the z31 is my favorite car, i was born in 88 so hence the reason i wanted an 88, and i was very picky, i wanted a turbo, 5 speed, and black interior. the black exterior was just a bonus although i will probably paint it in the black i want, cant remember what its called, some call it triple black some call it jet black. and not having the digi dash, and steering wheel contols was a bonus as well but yet i was kinda looking for one without them. the deal is almost done anyway, if the Z is ready soon i will have it in maybe a week or so, ive got the cash for it and hes driving it to me so i dont have to go pick it up. hes got family near me thats why hes driving to me, what a small world huh, lol. i know its more than what most of you probably paid for yours but i as i said was very picky and this one is an exact description of my dream z31 so thats why i dont care how much it costs me.

exactly, i was about ready to accept any 87-89 turbo 5 speed with black interior untill i found this one, then i was like holy ****, there is my dream Z31. gotta have it lol. i like the 87-89 body better than the 84-85 and 86. i will someday get an 86 just to say i have one lol. but that one will be like a dd where as the 88 im gonna hopefully do up a bit. i want to get like 300-350hp and ill be happy with that. i know it aint gonna be cheap but i dont really care. what was it around 260-270hp when the injectors maf and ecu need to be swapped? i think that what it was but cant remember exactly.

well my fiances tax is ALOT of money but mine is ****, lol. i was gonna have my uncle do it with turbo tax for free but my fiance is impatiant. my taxes are like a broken turbo maybe 1000 but my finace and me have 2 kids so hers is like 50psi of boost, lol. i think in total between federal and state about 8500. so yea one reason we are not worried about paying 4100 for the turbo z. but i didnt want to wait. h&r f-ed up cause they put opur sons age which is 6 weeks and not how long he lived with us so they had to fix it. but because of the f-up now i gotta wqait longer, and i didnt want to wait longer than needed.

you would think something like that they should just give you the money anyway. If they know you're going to get it. Also the fact that you have to pay them and they screwed up.

yea i know it sucks and its stupid that they did it that way. knowing my luck though i will have to wait 6-8 weeks before she gets it back. ill have mine in 8-15 days but its going to get the insurance, registration and a couple other things for the z. im hoping that it all goes fairly quick cause i dont want to wait that long to get the z. good thing the guy im buying it off said hes in no rush to sell it and if he doesnt sell it its not a problem. the only reason hes selling is because he wants to get another porsche or something and figured what he gets out of the z will go towards it. his loss my gain, id rather have a turbo z than a porsche but hey i guess everyone likes something different.

Have fun with your new 88 Turbo. I also had my eye out for a black on black turbo. I found a 5/87 GL 5 speed car with the CLSD for $2700. I still have my Red 87 Turbo 2+2 but the black car is may favorite.

Another update:

As long as all goes well with the weather I will have the Z tomorrow (20th). I'm hoping the weather stays decent, I really don't want to wait any longer to get it. Right now here in NY it's suppossed to be snowing but it's not, just the wind blowing snow from the side of the road. I don't know how the weather is where he is coming from, I believe it Pittsburgh, PA. All depends on how it looks down there. He said if the weather looks decent tomorrow morning then he is going to call me and let me know he's on the road. If it's crappy out then I will have it sometime next week. I'm REALLY hoping the weather will co-operate with us because I really want to have her tomorrow mostly because my b-day is the 24th and it was going to be awesome to have my dream car right around my b-day. Plus me and my fiances 5 year ann. is the 23rd and I'm hoping for a night out in the 2 seater.

uuuugggghhhh, I really hate winter. I just got off the phone with the guy I'm buying the turbo z off of and I guess he got a few inches of snow last night and they are calling for more so he doesnt want to chance getting into an accident. I don't blame him I'd rather be safe then sorry, but I'm getting tired of waiting and i think he is to. We are going to shoot for wednesday. Both tuesday and wedensday are clear with no snow but his son has school on tuesday so wedensday is better for him. So I will update again after then, hopefully it will be pictures of the new to me Z.
