HELP!
I have an 86 300zx turbo and everytime I get on the interstate my car overheats. My problem is that the car won't shift out of the passing gear and its causing my RPM's to shoot up real high. The only way to make it shift is to let off the gas, but once you push the gas again the RPM's return to a high level. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Dwayne

Re: HELP!
i'm with zenarcher about the flush, filter change and routine maintenance part. I've not dealt with automatics much, but i've heard they can be problematic when they get old (and they arent cheep to replace either)

Re: HELP!
I THINK YOU MAY MORE THAN ONE PROBLEM. IF YOU HAVE NEVER REPLACED THE RADIATOR THEY ARE PRONE TO PLUG UP, I HAD THIS COUSE AN OVERHEAT PROBLEM ON THE HIGH WAY BUT NOT AROUND TOWN.
TO CHECK THIS YOU CAN USE YOUR HAND BY GETING THE CAR WARMED UP THE SHUT IT OFF AND PULL THE SHROUD BACK OVER THE FAN THAN USE YOUR HAND TO FEEL AROUND THE RADIATOR IN MY CASE THERE WAS A SECTION THA WAS 50 DEG. COLLER. AS FOR THE TRANS THERE IS A VACUME MODULATOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I HAVE FORGOTEN THE SPECIFICS ON HOW IT WORKS BUT IT USES MANIFOLD VACUME TO SENSE ENGINE LOAD AND CONTROL SHIFT POINTS. HOPE THIS HELPS
