intake manifold

ok i always wondered about these engines and if their intake manifold was simetrical (i cnat speel) i mean the same on both ends so you'd be able to bolt it down turned, essentally turnning it arround and to end so the throttle body would be facing the passenger and at the front of the engine.

yes. you can rotate it 180 degrees. but none of the other fittings will work properly.

This is posted in the Z31 forums. If not, then I don't have a freaking clue.

i was thinkin, the maxima intake has a straight short snout and i was wondering if it was possible to rotate it 180 on a 300zx to make it more of a straight shot into the intake on a 300z with a maxima intake, and no i dont have a 300 only the 79 280 and an 87 maxima.

i dont know what the clearences are under the hood but mabe its worth a look, i havent found any one else online that has said any thing about it.

you'd have to run a few minor things arround to the other side but nothing major mabe a vaccume hose or 2 and the hose for the AAV

edit:
well pretty close to a straight shot

I suggest you actually go open the hood and look to see what else is in the way. It is more than just a vacuum line or two.

Straight shot doesn't always equal good. You should do some research on the importance of intake size, distance, flow, etc and how those variables affect performance. Those variables can affect torque / hp.
