K&N perf. filter
Hey all. I've decided to replace my stock filter with a k&n conical filter. I checked out the link on z31 about how to make your own setup to replace the resonator box and save
alot of money, rather than buying the whole filter charger kit.
My local autoparts store can't find the part# for the filter cone
that is suggested ( 9 inch cone). Does anyone know the actual part # by chance? I will contact K&N if I receive no reply but I figured u guys are usually quite helpful so there u
have it, impress me lol. Thx.(84 300zxt)

Re: K&N perf. filter
Yes it's simple: remove the air filter housing completely. Also remove the black box next to it.That's a resonator,it's useless.Replace all that with the K&N filter and a 6" to 8" long section of 3" pipe. Stick one end of the 3" pipe into the filter and tighten the clamp.Stick the other end into the rubber connector that the resonator was attached to.You'll have to buy a large hose clamp to tighten the pipe to the connector. You should be able to get the filter for around $40. and get the pipe from a muffler shop or maybe a parts house might have a short piece in the exhaust accessories. My filter came pre-oiled but you'll eventually have to buy a cleaning and re-oiling kit.Don't buy anything but a K&N even if you find a cheaper look-alike.

Hey Elliot. Yes the whole kit is called the K&N filtercharger kit. That includes the conical filter which I'm trying to buy
separately and the pipe which replaces your resonator. The
link explains how to build your own kit rather than spend money on the middle man. U need an 8" piece of pipe, 3 " diameter, preferably SS but PVC works as well. If u build your
own apparently it's a third of the cost. I want to know anyone who can exactly give me the product # of the 9" cone because my supposedly superb autoparts store cannot identify the # re-0810. Zen I realize u suggested that # as well
and i'm sure my autoparts dealer is useless, but is that the actual # on your cone which would be standard with K&N?
