Looking for purchasing advice
Hi there, I'm a long time Z car fan, of course, I'm a child of the 80s, and I'm in the process of purchasing a car. There are a few in my area I am looking into such as an '84 Anniversary Edition:
1984 Nissan 300ZX Turbo Anniversy Edition
I've never owned one before. I am hoping that someone can give me some tips as to what to watch out for and what to check.
I'm also curious whether or not it would make sense to spend more for an '84 Anniversary Edition than a '90:
1990 Nissan 300zx
I really want to enjoy finally owning a Z.
Thank you in advance.
Jay

the z32 is prettier than z31 (the 86 was the nicest of that lot). newer car more amenities. probably about as fast as the 84. On the other hand anniversary edition relatively rare and from the sales pitch the PO has taken care of it. stage 2 clutch will strengthen your left leg. Cars in this age bracket and specialty hard to value. depends on willing buyer willing seller. seats in the 84 probably about to fall apart they were never very sturdy. drive em both see which one you like.
look for rust under rear carpet on the 31. make sure ALL electrical stuff works. make sure the climate control works. the z32 less problems in that regard than the z31. Don't forget to bargain especially if the car has been on the block for a time.

also forgot to mention how much fun it is to work on a z32 compared to the z31. Yes their is more aftermarket for the z32 but plenty of options for the z31 these days. Just cause they are asking for that price does not mean you have to pay it. It all comes down to what you like and how much money you wanna spend. I like both cars. Would i daily any of those cars today. Most likely not. Go test drive both of them and find out which one is calling your name.
Edit: just seen the z32 is a auto and n/a.

** Update **
I looked at and drove both and decided to go with the '84. Thank you for the advice about the seats, I paid careful attention and they felt solid and I fit very well.
I'll post in the registry as soon as I bring it home.
