Need help on Headlight Conversion
I was wondering if its possible for the 87-89 300zx headlights would properly fit into the 85 300zx. I dislike the fog light sitting next to the headlight. I wanted to take the whole headlight assembly off an 89 that has just the single headlight and try to bolt it on the 85. But before i purchase the headlight i want to make sure its possible or if there is another way to do the conversion. thanks.

oH man that sucks. Lot of work just to do a conversion on that headlight assembly. I figured if i took the internal housing it should slap right on to the 85 with lil probs. ahh well if ya love the Z you'll do it whatever it takes. by the way how should i put that into Google to ensure i get the results i want on that conversion. thanks.

You could always get the JDM headlights. They are 1 piece. Most people don't do the conversion just for the headlights, the later model z31 front end is smoother, and more modern.
It's really not hard at all to do the 87+ front end conversion. The hardest thing is finding the parts and getting them painted.

the reason is that the 1987-89 headlights are wider and therefor the center section of the hood is slightly more narrow.
This page is a good read.

It has a lot of the commonly done modifications spelled out in pretty quick terms so you can get an idea of what is involved and go from there.
