Need help running issues. Don't wanna take the bus anymore!!
I have an 86 z31 non turbo, me and my friend have been trying to fix it but we're noobs. Every time i start it, it runs for like ten seconds then dies. I can give it gas and it runs fine, but at idle it always stalls sometimes runs for 30 secs. sometimes ten, others dies right away. found the fuel temp sensor was unpluged, and wire cracked but rigged up a new one, problem still happening. unhooked the airfilter put my hand there lots of suction.

Welcome to ZDriver!
Did you buy the car with this issue or did it suddenly start having problems?
Start with pulling the ECU Diagnostic Codes
Also check the timing.
And download the FSM if you haven't done so yet! XenonZ31 FSM Downloads

fuel temp sensor really doesn't affect running. what is your fuel pressure? get the fsm. check the chts.
Clean the connectors for the maf or afm, ecu and tps. Deoxit by CAIG is probably the best connector cleaner on the market. spray with CorrosionX after cleaning and before putting together this will help prevent any further corrosion.

First, it's "my friend and I".
Second, let's talk maintenance.
- When was the last time you did a tune up?
- When was the last time you checked all the vacuum lines?
- Have you checked the throttle position switch?
