new to z31

Hey guys, I just got a 87 or 86 300zx turbo 2 seater. I was wondering if there was a way to throw a t3/t4 hybrid on it and a new exhaust. Right now all's that's wrong with it is the turbo leaks oil and doesn't spool all that well, and the exhaust sounds like *** I think it's broke right up by the turbo...I love this car though because it's got T-Tops and LSD rearend and I've seen some pretty wicked 300zx vids and it motivates me to do something with it lol. It also only has 97k on it. If I can't do anything as far as throw my other turbo on and new exhaust I'll just sell it.

Thanks, AdAM

hay, noo kid-----the 86 has all kinds of lights on its ***--the 87 only has one strip of lights on its ***--which one you got>>???? i had 2 of the 1986 and i still have a 1984 50 AE.......there should be a way to do what you want to do----rebuilding turbo vs replacement--did you research all the old threads------there is something somewhere--i know others have gone where you seek to tread.....

it's an 87 lol i found the manual in the glove box. I already have a hybrid turbo that's why I was wondering if I could use it...the car is just fun as hell to drive and I don't want to see her go but it's so damn slow right now lol. I did search but couldn't find anything on exhaust that's my main concern right now.

t3/t4 hybrid works as long as you use the t3 exhaust side.

How can you not know what year the car is? The freaking title will say right on it. And so does the VIN. I swear to god more retards are buying one of these cars than ever.

You would think that someone selling a car would know what year car is they're selling. How dumb do you have to be?

lol settle down buddy if ud open ur eyes and scroll up a lil it says it's an 87. I already have a T3/T4 T04E turbo and want to put it on. It also has a manual boost controller under the hood but the kid before me told me it wouldn't do anything because boost is controlled by the computer so I have no clue. I'm used to talon's and **** where u slap on a boost controller and Super AFC and call it good.

Boost is controlled by the wastegate... not the computer. EBC's (Electronic Boost Controllers) intercept and adjust the pressure signal to the wastegate. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.... Before you go do (or even plan) your list of mods, read the book MAXIMUM BOOST. Don't ask why... just do it.

I read it it's a great book. I also read his other one. I have successfully turboed a probe gt before but that was too damn complicated. Had to hook up megasquirt and tune it and it's a great program but it's so damn confusing too indepth for what it's worth.

Something tells me you didn't understand it if you still said this:

he just told me that i understood it as the computer being the boost controller hooked up to a solenoid that regulates it which means you would have to bypass that somehow.

I also suggest buying a HAYNES manual for the car.

yeah yeah yeah... get em both... or if you don't want to pay $50-$150 for a FSM... pay $15 for a Haynes.

If you look hard enough, you can prolly even find one in PDF form on the internet for... FREE.
