newbie from london, with a problem...

hello all, I have just got myself a 1989 z31 turbo. it has various little problems but one mechanical problem that ive found so far so here it goes...

the car will start fine in the morning.
it will start fine when I start it again within 5mins at normal operating temprature.
if the car is at operating temprature and I turn it off and say go back to it 30mins later it stuggles to start.

so when you try to start it it will idle around 400rpm, it pops and bangs and as if it running on 3 cylinders, also stinks of fuel. I have to continuesly push the gas pedal up and down and once I get the revs to around 3000rpm I have to hold it there untill it clears itself and then It will idle and drive fine.

the car has had a new dizzy cap and leads. it also has a blitz boost controller and a walbro fuel pump, its running around 7psi of boost.

sorry my post is like reading a book haha, I really hope you guys can point me in the right direction, thanks in advance...

Had a very similar problem with my car a year back. Replaced the Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor (CHTS) and its been happy ever since. I am willing to bet thats it. Do you have the Factory Shop Manual (FSM) downloaded yet?

I just called up my local parts suppliers and they called it a temprature sensor rather than a chts, are these separate sensors? the sensor I think hes referring to control the temprature gauge?

Replace the fuel pressure sending unit. That would be my suggestion.

To test, when the car is running, pull the vacuum line off the FPR. If fuel squirts out, it's bad.

Have a fire extinguisher handy.
