Possible Motor Swap
I have an opportunity to get a motor from a 1994 300zx TT for $500 that runs with 80k miles on it, is it possible to swap that motor in an 85 T easily or is it too big of a project? What kind of parts would I need to do this job correctly. The only thing that is wrong with the motor is the distrubutor could this indicate other problems or does it just need to be replaced? Thanks for your help

Re: Possible Motor Swap
First, you will need a TT transmission and ECU. Also you would have to have dual exhaust, and unless someone can make you a custom bent pipe, your spare tire well will be in the way. I personally feel it will be way too expensive and time consuming to get it set up properly.
Replace your distributor and see if that works. I would still buy the TT motor and part it out on E-bay, but thats just me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Z32's distributorless ignition? I thought they just had coil packs that went separately. Those might be the problem, but it's probably best to ask the guys up on the Z32 board what they think.

yes.
easily or is it too big of a project?
define easily. if an oil change is a major undertaking, no, easy is not to your liking. if you've never dropped a transmission, no, it's not easy. if you swap 350 V8s into 240/260/280 Zs with your eyes closed, then a TT motor into a Z31 should be a piece of cake.
easy is a relative term.
if you're asking about what parts you'll need, this is not going to be an easy task for you. it will however be a good learning experience if you decide to go through with it. figure on at least two months down time (depending on your motivation and work schedule) cause you're going to have to have a few things made, and there's always parts you didn't think of that you'll need to finish. So plan on spending another $1000 in misc crap that just didn't come with it. Driveshaft will probably have to be custom, etc.
