Some help getting some reference images?
I'm wondering if anyone could send me some pictures of the rivets used for the VIN plate on the dash. Been having some problems with the previous owner not mentioning the "minor" issue of mismatching VINs and looks like he probably swapped the tag during the "dash work" he said he did.
Was hoping to fix up the car and sell it but looks like that is shot out the window thanks to the vin issue and will likely have to try and get my money back from the previous owner.
Would a state issued VIN decrease the value in your eyes? To me I was hoping for a car I could fix up and call "original" when I went to sell it, so had I known I wouldn't have bought it. What are your opinions on this since there seems to be quite a few on the market with good VIN on them?
Was a fun car for the few days I was able to drive it!

i thought such a VIN was for kit cars ,only mostly
my 86 T has a black rivet matching the plate with the stems breaking off flush like aircraft rivets do ,but they snap easy , that aluminum tag scratches very easily too.
sorry you got stung somewhat

I guess they do it for vehicles with more than one VIN too. You just have to prove ownership of both, which may be difficult in my case.
Also, the VIN on the dash looks like it has silver rivets painted black by someone since there is paint all over the place, and brushstrokes down to silver on the rivets. It's not flat so someone probably pulled it up at some point.

Does the VIN on the firewall match the title? Do you think he still has the old dash?
Another reason to double check that the VIN matches the title BEFORE you hand over the $$$.

Got the title to the one on the dash, and previous owner said he noticed after he bought it and the person he bought it from had no idea but didn't think it was important enough to tell me before I bought it. So I really don't "own" the car as of yet, just the dash.
I wasn't sure if the z31 used the rosette rivets, since that is all you can find reference images of online.
