Where can I find out what type of paint was used on my car originally? I'd like to repaint it, it's a show car, so originality is a must. I was told it has single stage paint on it. He's a white (color 326), 1986 turbo. I've been told the paint is too thin to buff much without going thru the paint. How/where can I find more info on buffing though? Buffer types, styles, bonnets to use, compounds, cleaning, how-to's, what NOT to do's, etc...

I know this is a lot of questions, but I am hoping someone can shed some light for me..

i went to my local ppg shop, they weren't the least bit helpful. so i tried one near my work, and they are either dumb, or good at playing dumb. quite frustrating.
