Turbo or NA 85?
Ok i was planning on making my 85 300(NA) turbo but i need a lot of parts and to do a lot of work in order to make that happen. i am only 17 yrs. old and have very limited funds for this car i currently have the turbo ecu, exhaust manifold and down pipe. I do know how to install headers and cat-backs but im not to sure about turbo swaps i think staying NA would be cheaper but i dont know how much power i could get NA. What would you do if you were me?...

ummm.... keep the car the way it is or sell its *** and get some sort of turbo car.... unless you got money to blow or a sweet deal on ALL the parts... dont convert to turbo... also some cars are easier than others... and your is on the harder end of the spectrum...

just stay on the look out. I bought my turbo in Atlanta for 1000, and I have seen a 86 turbo in North Carolina for 1000. I would just save some money and wait till you find a turbo car. Unless you find a turbo parts car for under a 1k...

thanks guys. It been decided my 85 5speed will stay NA i think im going to sell the few turbo parts i do have so i can get headers . and since im going to be adding more power to my NA would it be a good idea to get the turbo trans.?

if i can just get my NA to 200hp i'll be happy. What are some other cheap ways to up my HP besides headers, high flow cat, cat back and intake? i was thinking about taknig the heads to get port polish...

yea but i dont want to sell my car because its so clean all i have to do is paint it i have no holes and less than 1% rust anywhere on the car, and i got it for almost free. i dont think i could find another car as clean as mine for the price i paid...

why not leave the na as is--they are so very reliable--and if thi nice young man has low budget blues, why would he want to increase the cost of repairs by changing things out to turbo--by changint the na to turbo, he has to change out many more things than i bellieve he had planned. very costly.
i think, as the z31 na was such a nice reliable car--mine took me 130 miles each way to work for two years--AND around town--LA and SD--why not leave as is and save up for a decent already turbo later.....
i own 2 turbos and 1 na--the na finally had ouil pump fail and now trying to spin bearing--at 244k miles.....i really miss that car......i could count on it starting and going-----
