Question turbo pathfinder?

hey there everyone. im new to Z performance. i currently own a 1973 Datsun 610,05 STI(that im getting a stage 1 block built as we speak and probably the car ive had the most fun in, my 1987 4X4 Pathfinder =D.... well it was fun untill the timing belt broke. Ok, so im a huge fan of offroad and im planning to eventually make it a long-travel 4X4... weired right? anyways, i have not seen anybody do anything more than put a lift kit and bigger tires to these awesome little trucks and i really want to make it a dune smashing beast! has anybody ever dropped a VG30det in one? will the z32TT engine be better? i want this thing to put out 500hp within the next couple years. any suggestion?

A turbo gasoline engine is probably one of the worst combination's for a slow going rock crawler. unless your pounding the desert at great neck speeds, a blower will be best.

For sand, you will want top end power. Not necessarily need of low end torque.

Just ask any ATV folk out there. The ones that seem to do the best are the 2 stroke units.

it has vg30e....

its not gonna be a rock crawler. its going to be mostly for hi speed offroad type of driving. and i would like to conserve the 4wd for towing a boat and playing in the mud. i was thinking of putting a front axle from a exploder or a ranger to be able to put coilovers on the front......

A VG30dett and a VG30e arnt the same motor so its not going to be a direct swap.

you can swap in pretty much what ever you want, its just a matter of your resources and fab skill

im well aware that its not going to be a direct swap. im asking what engine would be best for 400-500hp? and also something ive been thinking about is what is the reason of having a tt set up? cant you get the same power with one big single turbo set up? or is it so that you can spool two smaller turbos faster?

Lol, you have alot of reading and learning to do. With what you have outlined would make for a very custom pathy with a very fragile engine that can barely handle being daily driver in a car.

yea i know it! its definitely not going to be a DD or an "easy" build lol. i think the hardest task will be the front suspension and steering. i just want to know what would be the best engine to use.

you can get 500HP out of an SR20det, VG30dett, or RB.

it depends on how much engine building you want to do and how much you want to spend.

and yes you have some research to do before you should pick your motor.

500! heheh

If you can settle for "only" 350hp then the VG30e Turbo will do the trick. Might take less work too.
