Update to Engine Gasp Problem
A couple of post down I was asking for suggestions on how to solve the stall during or gasp during acceleration problem I was having on a 84 NA I just purchased.
I believe the problem fixed itself after I installed the air filter that I found was MISSING. At first the engine continues to stall on accel even after replacing it but after 5-10 minutes of idling I heard the idle decrease slightly and then when I stepped on it to my amazement the stall was gone! I have read from some other posts that sometimes changes in the system takes a while to learn the new setup or something of that nature.
What exactly is this part? Is it the computer or is it an air flow meter or what.
Thanks AZ-ZBUM for your help and suggestions. I will now check the timing and all vacuum and or air leaks because I think the engine should run just a little smoother than it is, but the stall is gone.

I was wrong as the air filter after all did not solve the problem after all. So there was nothing that had to adjust to the change of having the air filter in as AZ-ZBum's said in his post above, (I wasn't necessarily thinking it was the ECU but thinking maybe the air flow meter had to adjust. ) But either way I was still wrong. Still have the same gasp. Not sure why it went away for a short while last week, other than the temperature was warmer outside, but anyways I am back to the drawing board.
For clarification purposes what exactly does the Air Flow Meter do? Thanks

Seems to me that you're back to intake or exhaust leaks and verifying the timing.
