weird front bumper badge
hey folks. I need a hand with this one and Im sure itll sound crazy. my mom has an 88 2+2, white over burgundy leather. its an auto. shes had it since new. about ten years ago some punk *** ripped off the front badge. when it happened she was going to replace it but the dealer was going to supply a black one and she said no.
this is the weird part. shes saying it was burgundy as well and not the typical black one you see on the cars. the crazy thing i she is right. i remember it being that color with the thick clear plastic coating. it matches the small badge on the steering wheel.
so do i sound insane or has anybody seen this variation before?

Is this the part you’re referring to? It’s a front ornament mounted in front of the hood between the headlamps, part code: 62311 on z31.com/fiche/7/n12.gif
If the emblem was offered in different colors, the fiche would show it by having a different part no. for each color. And it doesn’t. Therefore the emblem was only offered in one color.

Yeah I get that. But Im telling you, it wasn't the regular black and it wasn't painted. I remember when it happened and I tried to find the right one but people thought I was nuts. It wasn't black. But it appears that it will have to be.

Z32 also had a black version of the red badge. That may be what they were referring to.
