z31 no crank no fuel pump prime

ok so my Girls z31 had the head unit stolen out of it and the bare wires touched metal and the car died wouldnt start or anything (this all happened over a year ago before she was with me) she sold the car and the people never touched it so they sold it back to her. Anyway she replaced all fuses with brand new fuses checked all fuseable links. and replaced the battery with a brand new one. car will not crank and the fuel pump will not prime. im under the impression of it being the main relay(that is the usual culprit for a honda at least) but i cant find a relay diagram for the z31 and i did stumble across one for the z32 but it shows multiple relays for pump ecu and ignition. is the z31 the same? any help would be appreciated. She loves this car i want to try and help her get it running

Welcome to ZDriver!

What's a honduh? Oh, and check this: www.xenonz31.com/reference for the FSM.

What year Z31? Turbo or n/a? Have you checked to see if the ecu is getting power?

Well, to check for power you turn the key to ON and look at the LED lights in the ecu check hole. If they are lit, there is power.

Also www.az-zbum.com and www.redz31.net are great Z31 info sites.

Did ya peel off that electrical tape to uncover the condition of the wire underneath? I had the same problem with mine years back but when i uncovered the 50 rolls of electrical tape they had on it, i discovered the center of it was melted and barely connected. So i soldered it together threw on some new e. tape and it worked. then i got smart and jacked one from a junk dealer whom was charging 30 bucks for that one piece and runs good as new.

What does and does not have power?

Do the headlights turn on? Do the accessories turn on w/ the key? Is there power at the battery? At the interior fuse block?

Just trace the power...

Easiest way to test the fusible links is if you have a multimeter that can do continuity like beeping or whatever. Then you can just connect contacts of the multimeter to each end of the link and know right away.

From what I can understand the car did run after the headunit was stolen, right? Then the wires touched metal shorted and then after that the car would no longer run? I'm thinking you need to go through and check all of your fusible links, check that box of relays up on the passenger side under the hood. It sounds like a main ground or something may have been cut when they yanked the headunit out. If it ran before with the headunit pulled out then I'm guessing something shorted and blew a link or fuse that you just haven't found yet.

yeah she aint gonna sell it so we must fix it lol. ill check all the fuseable with a multimeter

Headlights come up but dont work (they work but are dim) Interior lights work HAzards work. Gauge warning lights dont work.

and yeah the headunit was stolen at the mall and she was driving home (didnt have any way to cap em off and she really didnt think to do it either lol) the wires touched metal and its been dead ever since. she turns the key forward its like the starter isnt connected. ecu does not light up the starter doesnt click nothin.

so ironically i tested the "burned" fuesable link i had replaced and it passed the continuity test. i used it as an example to teach my girl how to test continuity.....so we replaced that damn link for nothing..... anyway i had told her to peal the tape and look at it but she didnt listen... anyway now after the link passed she decided to peel the tape lmao so i guess now we will test all the other links and then ill do the EFI relay and from there we will move to the other relays i suppose i wish i knew what relay would control the starter and the ecu and the fuel pump. cause that is what is not working......
