Analog Dash has gone out

The other day I got into my car after not driving it about 1 month and the battery was dead. I then got my truck (i have done this a couple times) and jumped the battery. The car started fine after a few minutes. Then driving it I noticed my gauges had all gone out. From then on they come on every now and then and when they do my seatbelt light comes on blinking. They come on then go back off.
For sometime now my car has always acted weird as far as the battery goes. It's almost like there is a small drain on the battery. If it's left undriven for a long time the battery dies. I have a newer Z and went to move it after 2 months and she started right up.
Please help...

have you checked the charging system or the battery?

take the POS off the bat and make sure nothing is on in the car, no lights and no drain, probe the pos on the battery with the positive wire and see if theres a draw, as for your gauges? i bet bleach and or nismopick will tell you exactly where your problem is lol. those two are a huge help the the rest of us normal z ppl.

you can do the same to the negitive side as well, just unhook one side and probe cable with one end and battery terminal with the other

Nismopick and I have owned 280ZX's most of the time. I think our knowledge is based around that car in particular.

bad battery, bad connections make the symptoms you describe. Get a decent battery in there (like interstate not wal mart). New battery cables or check what you have for corrrosion on both ends. If you have those one size fitall clamps on there that would be a source of problem because the cable will corrode down inside the insulation and Z don't like low voltage.

I personally would pull the dash and use some electrical connection cleaner and clean all of the connections in the analog gauge wiring harness. Thats IF all other suggested solutions fail. While your in there make sure the harness is ok, and not grounding out anywhere.
