crank angle sensor heat problems..?
anyone out there had this happen to them?
my mechanic installed a new c.a.s. around 6 months ago, car has run fine no issues at all. The other day my car started to have issues (spluttering, irratic idle, miss firing etc) and died after it reached running temp. so, i took it to mech again and he has since installed another c.a.s. but has told me that vg30et engines are renowned for the c.a.s. to overheat when the original air intake is replaced with a pod filter. He seems to think that with the original boxes, there were two paths that the air travelled through. One went the usual path but the other may of branched off from there to blow air over the crank angle to keep it cool.
am i looking for something that doesn't exist or is there a way of fixing this problem other than replacing the c.a.s. every 6 months?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have no air flow to the C.A.S. and haven't had a stock air intake for years. I have never had a C.A.S. go bad, nor, have I heard of one going bad due to lack of cooling air flow. In fact, to my knowledge, the air that enters the intake remains in the intake, and, none is diverted, anywhere.
Based on what you say that your mechanic said, I'd raise the B.S. flag. He may have sold a defective part (the first C.A.S.) and instead of him eating the cost, he's hoping you'll buy his story, and, a new C.A.S., and, the labor to install it. Sweet for him, bad for you.

Your mechanic lied to you.
Heat is not a problem with the C.A.S.
There is no air flow from the stock air intake to the C.A.S. that is complete B.S.
Find a new mechanic ASAP.
I second what John says about the mechanic.
