I still don't get why you took off the wastegate rod. The (stock) wastegate doesn't open until the turbocharger is producing 6-7lbs of boost (which isn't in the 1500-2000 rpm range).

All you've done by disconnecting the wastegate rod is allow the internal wastegate flapper to flop around on it's own (even less efficient), and let exhaust go through the turbo AND wastegate port, which all that exhaust still ends up in the same tailpipe. Again... you need to learn how turbos work.

Unless the tech PHYSICALLY checks your timing with a gun every time, you should back it off some. Lower timing = better emissions. I don't see why CA would throw a fit about making a car run cleaner by lowering the timing.

Yes they did check the timing, and with the wastegate hooked up on a NON TURBO motor = high NOX even on a turbo it will up the NOX, just not as bad do to 7.8 to 1... I took the car for a drive, got the R's @ 1600 @ 15mph, in 2nd gear, (that's what the test was) put light pressure on the brakes, (like a dyno would) and the boost got to about 3-5psi of boost. Oh and at 25mph @ 2500 R's I get 10-12psi of boost. So, I took off the wastegate rod (sooooo slow now) and I just about passed.

So the question is, how/ what can I do to lower the HC (fuel) and lower the NOX (heat in motor) and the egr works...? Try to change the timing and hope they don't notice??? Is there a way get more exhaust back into the motor???

BTW, NO boost= lower NOX. With the wastegate rod off, I can only boost 3-4psi @ 5500-6000rpm

Okay, so I left the Z at the smog shop, and it PASSED, only the 15mph was close @ 112 of 112 HC, all else passed great... soooooooooooooooo

I find out that 02 was no good (no volts when I heated it up), so I put in anothear one from a Nx2000 that was bigger than the one came out that was reading good, but now the Z falls flat on it's face tell the r's get up to 3500rpms, and now it fills like it doesn't pull as hard. From idle to 2500 or so, it back fires in the intake..., so I put back the 02 that I took out, and no change. It ran like this to the smog shop. It ran good before the 02, just before that it started to idle funny, but ran good, I think I killed the ECU...

Doing a dance while your car is being tested doesn't "hurt" either.

No, cold it runs good, and as it gets up to temp, it runs like $h!t... so, today I put on a good used MAF on it, and that fixed 80% of the crappy running... Then I changed the distributor, no change... Then the smoke came out of my ears from thinking... ooooooo, the egr, I changed the egr to let more exhaust gas in the intake. I unhooked the egr and now it runs good... I'll test drive after a cold start and see...
