heater hoses
Well I have found the problem...i think. One of my heater hoses is bad and is now pouring fluid once the engine is warm and under pressure. I just can't tell which end is the leak. Is it possible to Replace these hoses without removing the intake?

Apologies for the double post. After checking the hoses and connectors to make sure they were good and proper (turns out they were), I ran a hose through them to see if they would hold pressure after capping one end. All Hoses were fine as far as I could tell.... So I decided to try burping the system again. Started the car with the cap off, filled the coolant and watched it bubble. After a bit, the level started dropping again so I filled it some more. Here's where it gets interesting. Thermostat then decides to fully open and, lo and behold, instead of flowing properly it decides to fountain. I got a hell of a block somewhere.
I'm guessing said blockage is what is causing hose spray in the heater hoses behind the engine due to the pressure. So...Radiator or heater core for the block? Also thinking a Really good flush couldn't hurt.

And We've FOUND the problem. Turns out the shop thought the head was blown. So I was prepared for the purchase of a new engine. Through a stroke of luck another AZ resident who also owns an 88 2+2, brought his to the same shop mine is in for basic maintenance. The shop had the idea to use his car as a guideline for how things should be. With permission from the owner of course. He thought it was a pretty cool idea and I made a friend in the process. Head and engine itself is fine as far as they can tell. Turns out there is a pipe underneath the plenum, they tell me it is a major coolant pipe of some kind. Well it and several waterlines are plugged up so bad they are surprised it still has some flow in it. So total cost of repairs including fixing my A/C, clutch, timing belt and water pump, as well as the pipes and vacuum hoses: ~1800 bucks give or take. Cost of replacing engine: ~3500 bucks. I think I made out like a champ.
