Put Turbo in 87 2+2 manual
i have a sweet 87 z31 5 speed 2+2 and i want to put a turbo in it . i keep hearing different stories on how to do it .
1. some guy told that they didn't make that many 2+2 in the 5 speed turbo
and that i would have to get a few things to make this happened ..1 turbo engine ecu and something from the trans
2. guy said i would have to give up my stick and go to auto (DAMN)
3. said just drop motor in and change ecu and i'll be fine
i can't find too much info on the swap to the 2+2 5 speed plz help ...trying to get this done b4 it gets COLD

Welcome to ZDriver!
Who's this "guy" you speak of? Apparently he has no idea what he's talking about. The 2seater and 2+2 are exactly the same from the front bumper to the dashboard... so that means the engine bays are exactly the same.
And you can use the Z31 transmission of your choice.... you aren't stuck w/ an auto.
And there's plenty of info on this site and other Z31 sites about turbo swaps... search for keywords like "turbo swap".

Before you make another uninformed post, read the z31 N/A to turbo swap conversions, or the vg30e to vg30et conversion.

TURBO SWAP = SWAPPING IN A TURBOCHARGED MOTOR.
In case you missed this, or didn't understand, YES, a 2+2 is longer, but it's only LONGER from the middle of the DOORS to the QUARTER PANELS...
AKA... THE FRONT HALF OF THE CARS ARE THE SAME.

Actually 2+2 z31's have a little kink in the 1/4 window and I think they are a little longer from the doors back? Either way it will make very little if no difference, seeing as it's only about an inch or two difference in length.
